Nigeria’s Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke, popularly known as Davidohas exercised his civic right to vote in the ongoing U.S. presidential election.
The music superstar was born in Atlanta but has been vocal about Nigerian politics, particularly in Osun state where his uncle is the current governor. This is his first time voting in the United States.
Taking to social media, Davido shared a snapshot of himself moments after casting his vote, proudly declaring, “First-time voter!!” The picturewhich has been reposted many times drew a flood of congratulatory messages from fans and followers.
Ahead of Election Day, the IF crooner used his platform to encourage his fans and followers to participate in the election, calling for a peaceful process.
“Election Day y’all be safe as you perform your constitutional rights ❤️,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter), urging Americans to embrace their civic duty responsibly.
While many American celebrities have endorsed one of the candidates, the Nigerian-American star has refrained from publicly endorsing any.
Yet, his participation has added to the buzz surrounding the election, especially among young Nigerians, Americans and fans of the music industry.
As the U.S. election season progresses, fans will be watching closely to see how more stars lend their voices to crucial issues impacting society as we await the results of what is predicted to be the closest presidential race in a long time.
