Gurman: No October Event, New iPads and Macs May Be Announced Through Press Releases

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may elect to reveal its final batch of 2022 products—updated versions of the iPad Pro, Mac mini, and 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models—through press releases on its website rather than a virtual event.

Rather than holding a digital event, Gurman stated in his most recent Power On newsletter that Apple is currently “expected to reveal its remaining 2022 items via press announcements, updates to its website, and briefings with select members of the press.” It had been rumoured that Apple would have a second fall event in October with a focus on the Mac and iPad, but that may not be the case now.

The upgraded 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models with the M2 processor, the updated Mac mini with M2 and unnamed “M2 Pro” chip options, and the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models likely to be Apple’s three product updates for the rest of 2022.

In June, Apple unveiled the M2 processor for the 13-inch MacBook Pro and revamped MacBook Air. The revisions to the Macs and iPads will only include the new chip; there aren’t any significant modifications in the gadgets’ designs that have been rumoured. Even rather big goods, like the AirPods Max and the original AirPods Pro, have previously been released by Apple through press release.
