How to order new AirPods Pro in advance

On Friday, Apple will start accepting orders.

The iPhone 14, a toughened Apple Watch, and an improved model of the AirPods Pro were among the products that Apple unveiled during its “Far Out” presentation on Wednesday. On September 23, the second-generation AirPods Pro will go on sale for $249.99, and preorders will open on Friday, September 9. The entry-level AirPods will remain available for $179, but it looks that Apple will stop selling the first-generation AirPods Pro once the second-generation device is released.

The new generation of the AirPods Pro features the same pearly white appearance as the first model from 2019, so not much has changed in terms of aesthetics from the prior iteration. The MagSafe-compatible charging case Apple announced last year is still compatible with the noise-canceling earphones. However, Apple has made some intriguing hardware updates that elevate the second-generation AirPods Pro to the status of the brand’s most remarkable earbuds to date.

Apple states that the new AirPods Pro can support up to six hours of continuous listening with noise cancelling turned on or an additional 30 hours with the included charging case. The new H2 processor in the 2022 model also enables a better Adaptive Transparency mode, greater noise reduction, and swipe controls on the stems for playback control. Built-in speakers are also included in both the earphones and Apple’s new Find My-ready charging case to help you locate them if you misplace them.

THE SECOND-GENERATION AIRPODS PRO PREORDER PROCESS
Beginning the following week, preorders for the second-generation AirPods Pro will cost $249.99. The second-generation AirPods Pro have taken their spot on the Apple website in place of the original $249 AirPods Pro. But some stores, like Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy, are still offering the earlier model for $179.99.

Before they go on sale on September 23rd, you may upgrade to the new AirPods Pro by placing a direct order with Apple beginning on Friday, September 9th at 8AM ET/ 5AM PT. We’ll update this story if Amazon, Best Buy, or any other shop starts selling the new earbuds ahead of their release date. At the time, Apple is the only retailer planning to open up preorders for the new pair.
