iPhone 14 Pro

Live sports scores are available on the iPhone 14 Pro’s Dynamic Island in iOS 16.1.

Apple made the announcement that iOS 16.1 will enable a new Live Activities feature earlier this month. This feature will let iPhone users keep track of activities that are happening in real time, like a sports game or a food delivery order, directly from the Lock Screen. Additionally, Live Activities are integrated with the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max.

During a Premier League match, for example, the Dynamic Island shows a live-updating scoreboard with the number of goals scored by each club. The Dynamic Island expands to display the time remaining and play-by-play action when long pressed.

Instead, the score is displayed as a widget on the Lock Screen when an iPhone 14 Pro is locked. Live Activities can only be done on the Lock Screen on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, as well as all other iPhone models without the Dynamic Island.

Open the TV app on an iPhone running the iOS 16.1 beta and select the “Follow” button for a compatible game to test the feature. According to Apple, the functionality is initially only accessible for NBA and Premier League games for users in the United States and Canada, as well as MLB games for users in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. In the future, it’s conceivable that the feature may be extended to other sports leagues.

According to Apple, iOS 16.1 will be made available this year. The update will bring a new Clean Energy Charging option for U.S. customers, add support for Matter accessories in the Home app, make Apple Fitness+ exercises accessible without an Apple Watch, and more in addition to adding support for Live Activities in third-party apps.
