Prior to her late brother’s death, Madonna was covering the price for his rehab care.
Despite their troubled relationship, Anthony Ciccone was staying at a Michigan treatment center on the Queen of Pop’s pay, according to sources.
According to our sources, Anthony was actively battling alcoholism and was homeless, but he had repeatedly rejected help from Madonna and the rest of their family.
When Anthony lately became unable to care for himself, his celebrity younger sister stepped in to pay for his rehabilitation, according to sources.
According to TMZ, Anthony attempted to remove his feeding and breathing tubes just two days before his death on Feb. 24 while seeking treatment. The 66-year-old had also reportedly lost a large amount of weight towards the end of his life.
His reason of death is still unknown.
Insiders previously told Page Six that Anthony and Madonna “had a strained relationship,” highlighting Anthony’s reluctance to get therapy for his drinking problems.
“Madonna helped to support her brother when he would accept it,” an insider revealed on Sunday. “During his final months, he kept in touch with family and Madonna, but this week, he declined the rehab facility’s help, and it was evident he was ready to go.”
The “Vogue” singer, 64, paid a touching tribute to her brother on Monday, praising him for introducing her to many musicians and ideas as they grew up.
“Thank you for blowing my mind as a young girl and introducing me to Charlie Parker / Miles Davis / Buddhism / Taoism / Charles Bukowski / Richard Brautigan / Jack Kerouac / Expansive Thinking / Outside the Box,” she wrote on her Instagram Story along a throwback photo with Anthony and others.
“You sowed a lot of critical seeds,” Madonna continued.
