Chelsea Handler and Joy Koy say they’re over each other.

Chelsea Handler broke up with her comedian boyfriend Jo Koy in a video she posted to Instagram on Monday. The video was made before they decided to break up.

“Jo and I recorded this video early so we could celebrate our first year together, but as many of you have noticed, it breaks my heart to say that we’ve decided it’s best for us to take a break from our relationship right now,” she told her four million followers.

“I know that many of you cared about our relationship, and I wanted to tell you how much that meant to us both. How important it still is. And how much I now believe that love is there for all of us.”

Handler wrote that Koy’s love “blew my heart open” and that he had changed her life “forever.”

Friends introduced them more than 20 years ago, and they later worked together on her old E! late-night show, “Chelsea Lately.”

“To be loved and adored by @jokoy is one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” she said. “He restored my faith in men, in love, and in being completely myself, and I’ve never been more hopeful about the future.

“Jo, you blew my creativity wide open, rekindled my desire to work hard and be on the road, and reminded me of who I am and have always been. My feet have never been more firmly planted in the ground.”

When Handler and Koy were seen together at a Los Angeles Dodgers game in August 2021, people thought they were dating. Later that month, they confirmed their relationship on Instagram.

Chelsea Handler raves about her boyfriend Jo Koy, saying, “I fell in love at 46.”

In her post, she said, “This is not the end.” “It’s a new start, and it makes me feel better to know that I’m still loved and that I love this man as much as the sun loves the moon and the moon loves the sun. YOUR PERSON WILL BE THERE.

“So, please keep cheering for both of us, because you never know what life will bring. Let’s start by going to the theatre on August 5 to see Jo’s new movies Easter Sunday and Filipino Pride. Let’s go!”

Koy posted a picture of himself with Handler on his own Instagram account on Monday and wrote: “I just want everyone to know that Chelsea and I will always love each other and be great friends.

“I love her the most, and I can’t wait for you all to see what she has coming up. Keep killing it, Chelsea! Mahal Kita!”

A source told People magazine that everyone in their inner circle is hoping they can get back together.

“Their friends still hope that they can get along,” the insider said. “But if there’s one thing that’s clear, it’s that their relationship has made them both better people.”

During an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” in October, Handler said that she “fell in love at the age of 46.”

“Then there was my friend Jo Koy, who had been in my life for a long time,” she said. “Then I looked at him one day and thought, “Oh, that’s my guy!” So he’s like my best friend, and I get to have sex with him, too. Fun time!”

Handler told the crowd that if she could find love when she was in her 40s, so could they.

“So, if you have a friend you don’t like or aren’t interested in, just think about my story and be open-minded,” she told them.
