Following the dismal box office performance of Bros, Billy Eichner is putting himself on the defensive. The actor is clapping back at Twitter trolls that are using the performance of the romantic comedy at the movie theaters to attack the quality of his work.
Box office, as we all know, has little to do with a movie’s calibre. Additionally, there is no point in tweeting about a movie you haven’t actually seen. That is pure bulls**t from Twitter. The bulk of viewers of Bros adore it! He tweeted, “Go check it out and see for yourself.
Eichner vowed to “continue tweeting about Bros every day for the next year just to spite” all the naysayers in a subsequent tweet.
Box office, as we all know, has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of a movie. And tweeting about a movie you haven’t actually seen is meaningless. That’s just twitter bullshit. The majority of people who see Bros really love it! Go check it out and see for yourself!

Billy Eichner responds to “disappointing” box office figures and shares for “Bros” “Proud Of This Movie,” he says.
A day earlier, Eichner had tweeted that he had attended a movie showing to gauge public interest and was pleased with the response.
He wrote, “Last night I slipped into a sold-out theatre playing Bros in LA, sitting in the back.” “The crowd roared with laughter from beginning to end, erupted in cheers at the conclusion, and some were wiping away tears as they exited. Really. This movie makes me VERY proud.
The Billy on the Street actor recognised that the film’s box office performance was underperforming original projections made by the studio.
Even with rave reviews, excellent Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore, etc., straight people simply didn’t show up for Bros., especially in some regions of the country. And while that is unfortunate, it is what it is, he continued.
He urged “everyone who ISN’T a homophobic lunatic” to see Bros in theatres as a way to conclude his post.
Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold out theater playing BROS in LA. The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end, and some were wiping away tears as they walked out. It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.

That’s just the world we live in, unfortunately. Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros. And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.
