Kenan Thompson

During the Emmy Awards in 2022, Kenan Thompson continually criticises the Bay Area’s Netflix.

Kenan Thompson, the Emmys host, wasted no time in bringing up Bay Area-based Netflix.

Thompson poked fun at “Yellowjackets,” “Peacock,” and “Succession” during the obligatory Emmys roast, but his main target was the Los Gatos-based streaming tech giant.

Now, Thompson declared, “I adore “Squid Game.” If you’re unfamiliar with the term “Squid Game,” it’s a competition you enter when you’re deeply in debt and in need of cash. Netflix, I’ll be joining the cast next season.”

It was only natural for the audience to erupt in subdued laughter. It’s difficult to jest at the hand that feeds you. The massive streaming company has struggled financially this year, firing hundreds of employees and experiencing a drop in customers for the first time in more than ten years.

Within minutes, he attacked Netflix once more. He made another joke about Netflix after honestly thanking the crowd favourite “Abbott Elementary” for using its Emmy marketing funds for school supplies.

He stated, “It’s about helping those who are in need.” Because of this, all of my earnings from tonight’s performance are going to Netflix.

Even Thompson understood the cost of the joke.

They won’t ever produce a comedy special for me, but that’s okay.
