Bruce Willis-Emma Heming Willis

Emma Willis is ‘grateful’ to be working with a dementia specialist following Bruce Willis’ FTD diagnosis.

As Bruce Willis battles frontotemporal dementia, Emma Heming Willis is expanding her “dementia care toolbox” (FTD). Emma said on Monday that she is working with a professional due to the actor’s health issues. The Willis family announced two weeks ago that he had been diagnosed with the “cruel disease” in order to raise awareness about FTD.

Emma is collaborating with Teepa Snow, a dementia specialist who offers training, education, and hands-on skills to people who have a loved one with dementia. “In this space, she’s a loving, sensitive, and talented leader who navigates herself with genuine empathy,” Emma wrote on Instagram.

Snow thanked the actor’s wife in the comments section for doing “an absolutely fantastic job of providing the necessary support for Bruce as his skills have altered” and providing him “with what he needs to live well.”

“[FTD] is never simple, but with the correct programming and assistance, it is entirely possible to live a normal life. Congratulations to Emma and their entire family for your tremendous effort and dedication “Snow added. “It’s simply amazing!”

Bruce’s family revealed in March that the Die Hard star will be “stepping away” from acting indefinitely due to aphasia, a disorder in which a person loses the ability to communicate. Over the past year, the actor’s condition deteriorated, and he was officially diagnosed with FTD.

“Unfortunately, communication difficulties are only one indication of Bruce’s disease. While this is distressing, having a precise diagnosis is a comfort “the Willis family stated earlier this month.

“FTD is a heinous disease that many of us have never heard of and that can affect anyone. FTD is the most common type of dementia in adults under the age of 60, and because the diagnosis can take years, FTD is likely much more widespread than we realize. There are currently no treatments for the condition, which we hope will change in the next years. As Bruce’s situation worsens, we hope that any media attention will be focused on raising awareness and funding for this disease “The family continued.

“Bruce has always believed in using his voice in the world to help others and to raise public and private awareness about vital topics. We believe in our hearts that if he could, he would respond by bringing global attention and a sense of connection to those who are also coping with this painful condition and how it affects so many individuals and their families “The Willis family persisted.

The actor’s blended family — Emma, 44, their daughters Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, 8, ex-wife Demi Moore, and their children Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 29 — are all rallying around him.

“Bruce’s main goal is to keep him moving. He has a full day of activities planned for him. They make certain that both his body and mind are exercised “People quoted a family member as saying.

“The family is closer than ever,” the insider continued, stressing that Emma is working hard to create pleasant memories for their two young kids. “She wants children to remember Bruce as a wonderful, entertaining father. She wishes for children to have fond memories of him.”
