ASUS ROG Phone 6D

If it seems like we were just checking out a new ROG Phone gaming handset from ASUS, it almost was: the ROG Phone 6 (and 6 Pro) first appeared — in leak form — at the end of June.

Now, just two months later, at the end of August, we’re experiencing déjà vu all over again, courtesy of the ROG Phone 6D (pictured above) and 6D Ultimate (pictured below). According to PhoneArena, the D stands for Dimensity, with the 6 series’ Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 being replaced by a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ system on a chip.

This should lower the cost barrier to entry, though it’s unclear what other changes have been made; as you can see below, the new models are nearly identical to their linemates. (They are the ROG Phone 6, 6 Pro, 6D, and 6D Ultimate, from left to right.)

Nonetheless, ASUS is positioning the Ultimate as top-of-the-line, so despite the silicon swap, there may be other features that distinguish the model.

All will be revealed on September 19th, when these are scheduled to go on sale, but as always, we’ll do our best to bring you the information sooner.
