‘Girl From Plainville’ Michelle Carter seen for first time since release

Michelle Carter, 25, hasn’t been seen since she was released from prison in January 2020 after 11 months for texting suicide. Carter was convicted guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2014 for the death of Conrad Roy.

The Girl From Plainville” stars Elle Fanning as Carter, Colton Ryan as Conrad Roy, and Chloe Sevigny as Lynn Roy, Conrad’s mother.

A Massachusetts court determined in 2014 and 2015 that Carter’s words (texting and phone calls) pushed 18-year-old Roy into suicide. She was sentenced to 15 months in jail, but was released 3 months early owing to her excellent behaviour.

Carter and Roy’s tale was told in the 2019 HBO documentary “I Love You, Now Die: The Commonwealth Vs. Michelle Carter.”

In the months after her release, Carter has been seen performing yard work outside her house.

“It was difficult to stay in that mindset for five months. « It was rough stuff,” Sevigny said. “But we’d strive to find levity both on and offscreen,” she remarked.

It’s now available on Hulu, with new episodes every Tuesday.
