In Francis Coppola’s ‘Megalopolis,’ Aubrey Plaza co-stars with Adam Driver.

EXCLUSIVE: Aubrey Plaza has found her next big feature film after receiving some of the best reviews of her career in Emily the Criminal. According to sources, she will join the ensemble cast of Francis Ford Coppola’s passion project Megalopolis. Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, and Laurence Fishburne have already been cast in the film.

The news that the iconic director would be moving forward with the project later this year was first reported by Deadline, with Coppola directing the independently financed film from his own script. In the past, he described the contemporary drama to Deadline as follows: In this epic story of political ambition, genius, and conflicted love, the fate of Rome haunts a modern world unable to solve its own social problems.

The budget will be slightly less than $100 million, and production will begin this fall. Attorney Barry Hirsch is negotiating distribution rights.

Plaza’s most recent film, Emily the Criminal, premiered at Sundance earlier this year. She will also appear in the upcoming season of HBO’s hit anthology series The White Lotus.

CAA, MGMT Entertainment, and attorney Ira Schreck represent her.
