iPhone 14 Pro

iPhone 14 Pro just got a new update. There won’t be an iPhone 14

It looks like the RAM in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will be faster, too.

Stop us if you think there’s a pattern here. According to a new report, the iPhone 14 Pro will have one more feature that the regular iPhone 14 won’t have. This time, it’s about how well you do.

Citing supply chain sources, Digitimes(opens in new tab) (via MacRumors(opens in new tab)) reports the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are both going to feature 6GB of RAM using a faster LPDDR5 memory type. The regular iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max, on the other hand, will both have 6GB of RAM, but they will use the older, slower LPDDR4X memory.

Digitimes says that three of the biggest memory companies in the world, Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology, are all set to make RAM for the upcoming iPhone 14 range. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had already said that the standard iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro will have different types of memory, and this backs up his claim. With LPDDR5 set to offer faster and more efficient storage, the Pro iPhones could be more responsive than their standard counterparts when loading games or demanding productivity and content creation apps.

This is on top of the rumor that the new A16 Bionic chip will only be in the iPhone 14 Pro series. The A15 Bionic processor is likely to stay in both the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max. Even though the current iPhone 13 is still the fastest phone, this is another sign that the difference between the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro could be the biggest we’ve ever seen between the two.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the rumors, the iPhone 14 Pro series is said to have a new main camera with 48MP instead of 12MP and the ability to shoot 8K video. And only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max are expected to have a new display that stays on all the time. Plus, the new iPhone 14 Pros should get rid of the notch and replace it with a pill-shaped cutout and a new hole.

But that’s not all. Most likely, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro will still be the only ones with a telephoto lens. This means that the regular iPhone 14 won’t have an optical zoom. We’ve heard that the 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate will still be locked in for the Pros, but the iPhone 14 could change the refresh rate from 60Hz to 90Hz.

The only bad thing? There are rumors that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will cost $100 more than their predecessors. In this economy, that would be a bummer. But with all the improvements coming, it might be fair to raise the price.

We are sure that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will get some improvements that are worth having. And this is said to include a new front camera that can focus itself. But so far, there haven’t been many interesting rumors, except for the one about a new 6.7-inch size for the iPhone 14 Max, which would make the iPhone mini obsolete.

We shouldn’t have to wait too long for the new iPhones, since Apple’s September event could happen as soon as September 13. But for now, make sure to check out our hub for the iPhone 14 Pro to learn about all the latest rumors and leaks.
