KISS

KISS schedules final gigs in New York City, only blocks from the band’s birthplace.

Kiss will return to the United States for two final gigs at Madison Square Garden on December 1 and 2.

Even KISS, maybe history’s most ardent supporter of all-night rock and roll, is ready for a break. The band will begin its final tour in October and has just revealed that it would conclude the run with two farewell concerts at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, just a few steps from where the group was founded in 1973.

“We felt it fitting to conclude our career on stage at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN because New York City has been a part of our ethos and storytelling for more than four decades,” the band says in a statement accompanying the announcement. “New York City gave birth to KISS. On 23rd Street. A half-century ago. It will be a delight and honor to complete touring in Madison Square Garden, 10 blocks and 50 years from where we first started!”

Kiss’ departure from touring, aptly titled “The End Of The Road Tour,” has been a minute in the making. The current lineup features founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, as well as drummer Eric Singer and guitarist Tommy Thayer. Ace Frehley, the band’s founding guitarist, and drummer Peter Criss left the band in 2002 and 2003, respectively.
