Listen to what the horse has to say about it.
TL;DR
The 10T won’t have an alert slider or Hasselblad branding, according to OnePlus.
The company says it had to get rid of the alert slider to make room for more important parts.
Because of the price, the 10T won’t have the Hasselblad integration.
On its next flagship phone, the OnePlus 10T, OnePlus is getting rid of the alert slider. Even though the move has already caused some controversy, there is a good reason for it. In an interview with The Verge, OnePlus’s Chief Designer Hope Liu explained why the fan-favorite feature was taken away.
Liu says that the alert slider was too big to fit on the OnePlus 10T, so it had to be taken off in order to make room for other features like “high wattage charging, a large battery capacity, and better antenna signal.”
Some might say that the alert slider is a small switch, so OnePlus could have put it on the 10T. But Liu told The Verge that even though the alert slider looks like a small part, it actually takes up 30 mm2 of space on the device’s motherboard, which is a lot.
The OnePlus 10T has two “charging pumps,” while the OnePlus 10 Pro only has one. The 10 Pro can charge at 80W. It’s been said that the 10T could have faster charging at 150W.
Faster network speeds were also important to the company. The OnePlus 10T has 15 separate antennas that help improve connectivity when the phone is held in a horizontal position.
“We would have had to stack the device’s motherboard to keep the alert slider and make the device thicker,” said Liu.
No Hasselblad logos on the cameras
The company also gave the publication official photos of the 10T (see above), and the lack of Hasselblad branding on the camera is another thing that stands out. The partnership between OnePlus and the camera company started with the OnePlus 9 Pro, which came out last year. The OnePlus 10 Pro also features camera software tuned by Hasselblad.
Liu says that the 10T doesn’t have the Hasselblad name on it because the company “wanted to offer a flagship smartphone with the best performance at the price point chosen for the device.” Does that mean the 10T will be less expensive than the 10 Pro? We’ll have to see what happens.
The company has confirmed that the OnePlus 10T will have a triple camera system on the back, with the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor as the main camera. In addition to the main 50MP camera, the OnePlus 10 T has an ultrawide camera with a field of view of 119.9° and a macro camera.
Also, we now know what the official colors are.
OnePlus also said that the new phone will come in green and black. It called the colors “Jade Green” and “Moonstone Black” in a tweet. On August 3, at 10 a.m. ET, the phone will go on sale.
