Prince Joachim, the son of Queen Margrethe, claims they have not spoken since the monarch removed the titles from the grandchildren.

Not only the British royal family is dealing with family strife.

Prince Joachim of Denmark claimed that he hasn’t talked to his mother, Queen Margrethe II, as well as his brother Crown Prince Frederik or his sister-in-law Crown Princess Mary since the palace announced his four children would lose their prince and princess titles next year.

The 53-year-old and his wife Princess Marie recently had a joint interview with Danish publication B.T. He claimed that since the announcement of the title change, the 82-year-old monarch “sadly” has not gotten in touch with them.

“And it’s family. or whatever name we choose, “added he.

Joachim and his first wife Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, have two kids together: Prince Nikolai, 23, and Prince Felix, 20. He wedded in 2008 to Marie, with whom he has two children: Princess Athena, age 10, and son Prince Henrik, age 13.

The four children of Joachim will no longer hold royal titles starting on January 1, 2023, the Danish royal house said on Wednesday. They shall be referred to as His Excellency the Count of Monpezat or Her Excellency the Countess of Monpezat instead. Sixth in line to the Danish throne is Joachim, the queen’s second son. The present positions of his children in the succession, which are seventh through tenth, will remain unchanged.

The palace released a statement saying that the decision was made by Her Majesty the Queen in order to give her four grandchildren “the framework to be able to shape their own lives to a much greater extent without being limited by the special considerations and duties that a formal affiliation with the Royal House of Denmark as an institution involves.”

It is thought that the modification was intended to simplify the monarchy’s future. Joachim countered that family ought to come first.

Margrethe has expressed regret for disturbing her family with her choice. She didn’t want to change her decision, though.

“As queen, it is my responsibility and ambition to make sure that the monarchy always adapts to the times. This occasionally necessitates making difficult decisions, and there will never be a perfect time “In a statement made public on Monday by the royal household, she stated.

The monarch with the longest reign in Europe stated, “This change… I consider as an essential future-proofing of the monarchy.” She hasn’t changed her mind about it.

“In my capacity as queen, mother, and grandmother, I have decided. But in my capacity as a mother and grandma, I’ve underappreciated how much my younger son and his family are impacted. That leaves a lasting impression, and I apologise “According to Margrethe’s statement.

In Paris, where he resides and works, Joachim previously stated that they “are all really depressed.”

“Observing your children being mistreated in that way is never enjoyable. They themselves find themselves in an illogical predicament, “added he.

Joachim’s response to the question of how the choice had affected his mother’s relationship was, “I don’t think I need to expand here,”

The first wife of Joachim claimed that they were bewildered, grieved, and shocked.

“The kids experience exclusion. They do not comprehend why they are losing their identity “explained Alexandra.

Joachim further claimed that he was given a five-day notice of the modification. He claimed that in May, he was initially given a proposal that called for the removal of the kids’ titles once they were 25.

Margrethe’s choice was consistent with recent actions by other royal families in a variety of respects. The younger children of Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf, Princess Madeleine and Prince Carl Philip, were stripped of their regal titles in 2019. Crown Princess Victoria, his oldest child, is the heir apparent, followed by her offspring. Their titles will remain intact.

On January 15, 1972, Margrethe was crowned queen, one day after her father, King Frederik IX, passed away.

According to some royal watchers, King Charles III of Britain may be monitoring the situation in Denmark.

Once he became king, the 73-year-two old’s grandchildren by his second son, Prince Harry, were anticipated to hold the titles of prince and princess. However, rumours suggest that the monarch is delaying making a choice until after reading Harry’s impending memoir. Archie and Lilibet, the grandchildren, shouldn’t hold HRH titles because their parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aren’t active royals, according to sources who have previously stated this.

The pair made the decision to stand down as senior members of the British royal family public in 2020.
