Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary Talks About the ‘Dream Come True’ Guest Star in the Season 2 Premiere and Grade It!

Why wouldn’t Janine be confident in herself during the Season 2 premiere of Abbott Elementary? After all, the instructor had pulled off a major coup: she had convinced Gritty, the mascot of the Philadelphia Flyers, to visit the class during the first week.

Unfortunately, Janine miscalculated the dates, and the local star arrived up a week early on the teachers’ Development Day, which left her more hurt than she wanted to admit. Quinta Brunson, the show’s creator and actress, was ecstatic about the guest star during a Television Critics Association virtual press tour session, so it was a setback for Janine but a huge win for Quinta.

“To us, he is incredibly special. Brunson said, “He is the largest celebrity cameo of all time,” before admitting that the mascot was meant to make an appearance during the previous season.

“We almost used Gritty as the show’s pilot. Before you guys ever learned about the show, he was involved from the start, Brunson said. “Therefore, having the chance to involve him was amazing. As important as the Eagles, cheesesteaks, pretzels, etc. are to the unique Philadelphian atmosphere of this programme, gritty is just as important. So obtaining him was like realising a dream. I was quite happy. I felt awestruck.

Gritty was described as “a phenomenon that I feel like relates to everybody on a human level, a cellular level” by Tyler James Williams, whose character Gregory first didn’t understand the appeal of the fuzzy mascot. That doesn’t require explanation,” the actor remarked.

Melissa’s actress Lisa Ann Walter continued, “Gritty is apparent. But I would admit that he is even better in person. because of his excellent improv. A comic genius, Gritty
