Regé-Jean Page doesn’t care if his role on “Bridgerton” is changed.

(CNN) Regé-Jean Page, who plays the lead in “Bridgerton,” says he doesn’t mind if his role is played by someone else.

Page told Variety, “They can do whatever they want.” “Shonda Rhimes, who is the show’s executive producer, and I had a great talk at the end of Season 1,” I said. We were pretty happy with how well we pulled that one off.”

Page played Simon Basset, who got married to Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Basset in the first season of the Netflix show before moving on to other roles.
“We did so well with that arc of redemption that people forget that Simon was kind of scary,” Page said. “So, you feel great because we came full circle so well and made that landing. You have to be very brave to end stories in that way.

At the start of Season 2, which came out in March, Page’s absence is pointed out by Dynevor at the family estate. He says that Page left her husband at home.
Page is now starring with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans in the Netflix movie “The Gray Man.” The movie’s first appearance on the streamer is on July 22.
