Teen-Moms-Ryan-Edwards-and-Wife-Mackenzie-Edwards

Ryan Edwards of Teen Mom and his wife Mackenzie Edwards divorced after six years of marriage.

It’s all over. Alums of Teen Mom Ryan Edwards and wife Mackenzie Edward (née Standifer) have called it quits after six years of marriage, Us Weekly can confirm.

According to court documents acquired by Us, Mackenzie, 26, filed for divorce from Ryan, 35, on Monday, February 27. Mackenzie was granted a restraining order and temporary custody of their two children in addition to filing for divorce.

Ryan was arrested earlier this month for violating an Order of Protection that Mackenzie obtained after her ex uploaded explicit images of her on the internet and accused her of cheating on him.

For several years, the former couple, who met in a gym in Chattanooga, Tennessee, exhibited their relationship on the MTV show. They proposed in December 2016 and married five months later. Ryan and Mackenzie’s dramatic 2017 wedding, in which Ryan drove himself and Mackenzie to their ceremony while barely keeping his eyes on the road, was also included on the reality show.

Ryan and Mackenzie welcomed two children after their marriage, son Jagger and daughter Stella, in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

The 16 and Pregnant alum is also the father of 13-year-old Bentley, whom he shares with ex-wife Maci Bookout. The ex-couple had a turbulent relationship before welcoming their kid in October 2009. Bookout, 31, and Ryan split in 2010 not long after Bentley’s birth, and their ups and downs — including challenges with co-parenting and her ex’s struggles with substance addiction — continued.

“He’s only seen him a couple of times this year,” the Teen Mom OG star said to Us Weekly exclusively about her son’s rocky connection with his father. “To be honest, Ryan never shows up to baseball games or anything of the sort. It’s not surprising that he doesn’t see him very often.”

The Bulletproof author, for her part, later married Taylor McKinney. Jayde, 7, and Maverick, 6, are the couple’s children. After Ryan allegedly sent threatening communications, the couple and their children secured a two-year restraining order (which has already expired) against him in 2018. When it came to Bentley, the two would speak through Ryan’s parents. (The restraining order did not cover Bentley.)

Ryan and his family were fired from Teen Mom OG in March 2021. Mackenzie implied at the time that Bookout was the reason they were taken off the MTV show.

“Nothing happened, basically nothing happened. “We just got a call from [producers] Morgan [J. Freeman] and Larry [Musnik] at MTV yesterday,” Mackenzie said Katie Joy on Without a Crystal Ball. “Maci’s agency went over and beyond, going to Viacom and saying that they wanted to focus on all of Maci’s strengths and whatever she does and that we took up time on the show that she could have used to highlight all of that.”

Word of their departure from the show came shortly after McKinney got into a disagreement with Ryan’s parents over his lack of involvement in Bentley’s life.

“It’s more of an angry, I’m going to show you who’s the boss type of thing,” Mackenzie alleged. “The truth is that she calls the shots here. It’s her show. That’s all there is to it. It’s all right.”
