Assassin's Creed Mirage

Ubisoft has confirmed the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage as a standalone title in the Middle East.

More information will be provided at Ubisoft Forward on September 10th.

Following numerous leaks, Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next instalment in the long-running series. More information will be released during the Ubisoft Forward event on September 10th, but for now, we can glean some tidbits from the announcement image. It depicts Basim Ibn Ishaq, a character from the recently released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, leaping with his hidden blade in front of Baghdad’s Palace of the Golden Gate (via Polygon).

This is consistent with previous leaks about the game’s setting, which also indicated that Mirage would be the series’ return to stealth gameplay. According to Bloomberg, the new title was originally intended to be DLC for Valhalla, but it was later transformed into a standalone experience to fill out Ubisoft’s release schedule. Whatever its origins, it’s refreshing to see the series return to its Middle Eastern roots. Being a super-powered killing machine in Origins and Valhalla is fun, but it’s a far cry from the methodical and less action-heavy gameplay of previous AC games (especially the under-rated Origins).
