When her daughter made history at the Emmys, Zendaya’s mother wasn’t exactly welcomed.

After a guy stopped her and asked for her credentials, Claire Stoermer was forced to name-drop her kid.

In addition to fake-dead Jimmy Kimmel and record-low ratings, Zendaya’s mother reportedly ran into difficulties with security while attempting to embrace her daughter prior to her acceptance speech. For her portrayal of the troubled, drug-addled adolescent Rue on Euphoria, Zendaya received the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Emmy.

I went to Z before they gave her the Emmy and gave her the largest embrace while exhorting her to breathe. According to Insider, Stoermer posts on Instagram. “Where are your credentials?” the man who attempted to stop me said. I introduced myself as Zendaya’s mother and then sped off! hahaha! I’ve never name-dropped before, but I must now!

It makes sense that security was on high alert surrounding Zendaya’s table because, these days, every major awards junket is merely waiting (and hoping) for the ratings of another Slap. However, this is the mother of Zendaya—Zendaya! Zendaya is the first Black woman to ever receive two Best Actress Emmy Awards! The dance’s creator and mastermind is Zendaya! For the love of God, she’s MJ!

Fortunately, the minor security hiccup didn’t lessen Stoermer’s enthusiasm for the occasion, pride in her daughter, or appreciation for the entire Euphoria cast and crew.

Stoermer captioned a picture she posted of Zendaya and the Euphoria crew, “I love this set of folks. “I don’t worry about Euphoria when Z is working on it! Thank you, @samlev00 and @ashlevinson!

Just before the season 2 finale in February, Euphoria received a third season renewal. It received 25 nominations for this year’s Emmys and took home six prizes. Colman Domingo, whose performance as Rue’s steady and tough love mentor Ali gave the show a new sense of seriousness and served as the episode’s anchor, was also recognised for his excellent guest acting.
